The first social issue in the Caribbean is unemployment. Globalization has caused many people to be without a job. A lot of industries are not able to to globally compete with other places. Lack of skills training, lack of investment for new businesses, and multinational firms closing down are just a few of the causes for unemployment in the Caribbean. The effects of unemployment are that a lot of the population is living in poverty and many citizens are doing illegal activities for the sake of survival.

Another social issue in the Caribbean is migration. Caribbean people have been migrating to the first world to look for opportunities for employment and education. When the skilled and highly educated citizens migrate many of the Caribbean countries endure loss and shortage in important and critical areas. SOme of the effects of this social issue is that the growth and development of the Caribbean is slow.
